OP - Build to last / Thanks everyone for building edition 01

OP - Build to last / Thanks everyone for building edition 01

Last Wednesday OP’s first edition of “Build To Last” took place in our Stockholm Office. We want to thank everyone that came, we really are overwhelmed by your support, energy and enthusiasm that you all brought! We promise to host a second edition soon so all of you who went home empty handed will get a chance to build your own stool!

"Build to Last" is our new forum for creating, building and discussing design & architectures which we hope can inspire and educate. With this edition, we've tried to prove that you can create quality furniture without reinventing the wheel. We used local Swedish wood with honest manufacturing techniques. Rethinking material standards makes us more efficient and affordable. Assembling furniture on site together with beer and friends is a plus but necessary in our books.

Let us know what happened to your own stool; make an Instagram post and link @o_p_se or send us a DM.

We will refine the stool from our learnings after the event and soon launch our webshop on our website - Stay tuned!

If you didn’t get a chance to build your own stool, let us know if you want to buy an assembly kit, contact us at info@o-p.se

Furnishing the Factory

Furnishing the Factory

We are starting of the year with a new, and some-what old, project together with IKEA. We are creating a new interior design concept for IKEAs workspaces in Älmhult. This is a team and project that we’ve been involved with for a long time now and it’s great seeing the project come together.

Pictures from the kick-off that we hosted late last-year in our Stockholm office.

2022

2022

Starting off the year with a variety of challenges such as adapting the office for new challenges with &Other Stories, simplifying how we consume locally produced food with Nordish and ensuring you take medicine on time by launching Mevia’s adherence devices.Pushing for more positive improvements with more clients; adapting the office for new challenges with &Other Stories, simplifying how we consume locally produced food with Nordish and ensuring you take medicine on time by launching Mevia’s adherence devices.

OP has also gained new knowledge from projects started within the company, such as outdoor camping products, cross laminated wood furniture and starting our own property company together with our good friends at Vindshem called Arkipelad. We want to change the way we build and live in our homes, from sustainable materials to an adaptive way of contextually designing a space.

After the summer break with the batteries recharged and new team members we embarked on some incredibly exciting projects; Having the privilege of working together with the Swedish Centre for Architecture and Design and Härnösand’s municipality designing the streetscapes if not centered around the car. Speaking of vehicles, we’re also working on an interesting collaborative project with Volvo Cars along with a new OP client, Volvo Group. It’s been a blast working intensively with two of Sweden’s largest corporations and exciting material is coming soon. Finishing out the year we’ve started a new collaboration with Crescent Garden, re-defining outdoor storage furniture with fully recycled plastics that will declutter your living spaces.

2022 saw OP open its doors to a new office in the countries’ capital Stockholm with a great bang, branching out our possibilities together with our fantastic clients on their current and hopefully future journeys!

There’s many exciting possibilities to come in the next year and we look forward to celebrating OP’s first 5 years of existence with many more to come.

“An office building like a factory” Site visit IKEA Backsippan Älmhult

“An office building like a factory” Site visit IKEA Backsippan Älmhult

Back in 2018 we help IKEA with the design concept for the expansion of it’s Product Development Center, IKEA of Sweden, in Älmhult. The concept was simple, “Building for change”. A highly flexible structure with simple materials and different seperated laysers optimized for an office space undergoing constant change.

We are very happy to see that many of the inital ideas have been kept in the construction of the building that is now under way by IKEA of Sweden, IKEA Property, Daniel Berg Arkitekter and Krook och Tjäder.

The visit also marks the start of a new project togetter with IKEA, creating the interior design concept for the new workspace, more to come.

&otherstories / Site visit & build up

&otherstories / Site visit & build up

The new workspace we designed for &otherstories in Kungsholmen is coming along great. Here are some images of some highly skilled craftsmen fixing the acoustic padding directly against the slabs. For us it’s been really important to keep the existing character of the old brewery that now houses &otherstories new HQ workspace in Stockholm.

2022 Trip

2022 Trip

We packed up the office and went on a short trip to Lund and Malmö, in the south of Sweden, then over Öresund to Humlebæk and Louisiana. A lot of great Scandinavian architecture in this region to rest the eyes on!

A Pop-Up for IKEA Museum

A Pop-Up for IKEA Museum

We designed a new Pop-Up for IKEA Museum that was first launched during H22 City Expo in 2022.

The shop is built on the same racking principal of the IKEA Self-service area. A heavy duty racking acts as the carrying structure for the shop and content. Supporting both the exterior and interior. The shelfs are then divided into smaller units using MDF. The mantel pieces of the Pop-Up is the big  lamp hanging over the MDF centre podium, constructed of aluminium and 60x60 panels from the IKEA Floalt range.

Team: PJADAD / Jutta / JOPIA / Anna E / Built and assembled by IKEA Production Services.

IKEA H22

IKEA H22

Recently completed a temporary exhibition for IKEA together with SKEWED Productions.

“Helsingborg. A seaside town in the South of Sweden that you might not have heard of. By the end of 2022 we hope that Helsingborg will be firmly on the map.

In August of last year we began working on ‘H22’ a project with IKEA and the city municipality of Helsingborg. H22 is to be a ‘City Exhibition’ on an international scale, showcasing the best in new thinking around the future of the city.

One of our first aims for H22 was to make sure that the event is as sustainable as possible. Circularity is one such way we are going about this. Around 200km away from Helsingborg is the township of Kållered. Home to one of the very first IKEA stores. In September of this year IKEA Kållered will close down. Rather than consigning the rich resources of the Kållered to the scrap heap, IKEA and SKEWED have begun investigating what we might reuse and repurpose for our event in Helsingborg next year.”
